Rising damp

With rising damp, moisture in a wall is sucked up by the capillary action of the wall. This mainly occurs with well-founded building walls. Features are outgoing salts, loose stucco or mold.

Measurements can show whether there is actually increased humidity. Usually, the moisture pulls up to an even height of up to one meter. Of course, there are always exceptions.

To prevent the rising moisture transport, we use the Aquapress Diffusion methodology. A barrier against rising damp is realized at plinth level. Every 12 cm, a reservoir is placed for 24 hours so that our specially developed injection fluid with TNO can penetrate well into the construction. After this period, the barrier is formed. We can also create vertical barriers. We guarantee this for a period of 10 years. For downloads you can view the technical specification.

Risks of rising damp

It is important to combat rising damp quickly and well. Rising damp brings many consequences as soon as the problem is not addressed. Think of:

Health

Rising damp can cause fungi. The combination of the moisture in the wall and the heat inside a room are an ideal living environment for different types of fungi. Also, rising damp can increase humidity. As a result, you can contract various lung disorders.

Deteriorated Insulation

The rising damp affects the insulating effect of the walls. As a result, a lot of heat is lost within the building.

Integrity of the structure

Rising damp affects the integrity of a structure. As a result, the lifespan of a structure can be significantly reduced. Cracks can appear in the stones, pulverize, crumble and wood will rot. Dark moisture spots will eventually be visible over the entire bottom.
